Yellowstone Academy offers regular education, special education, vocational education, Title programs, and 504 services. YA operates year round on a trimester academic calendar. Students completing High School graduation requirements may graduate at the completion of semester.
Students are taught from research based curriculum. The number of students in the classroom varies, but every effort is made to keep the class size to 10 or lower. All high school courses follow accreditation standards and transition credits back to sending districts are coordinated through Yellowstone Academy.
YA is one of the only public schools associated with Residential Treatment in the western United States that meets multiple state accreditation requirements including but not limited to Montana, Illinois, and California.
Accreditation, Awards and Honors
Yellowstone Academy is accredited by Montana Office of Public Instruction (K-8) and by Northwest Accreditation Commission (9-12).
For the school year 2011-21012, Yellowstone Academy has been selected as a National Association of Special Education Teachers (NASET) School of Excellence. This award is the highest honor a private special education school can achieve through the NASET professional association. The recognition is bestowed on private special education schools that meet rigorous professional criteria and have demonstrated truly exceptional dedication, commitment and achievement in the field of special education.
