Yellowstone Boys and Girls Ranch provides the only residential based Equine Assisted Psychotherapy program in the state of Montana. The EAP treatment model uses horses as a tool for emotional growth and learning, creating a short-term collaborative effort between a youth's therapist and the equine instructor.
The program takes an experiential learning approach in which participants process feelings, behaviors, and patterns while learning about themselves and others.
The benefits of Equine Assisted Psychotherapy:
- Communication and teamwork skills
- Development of healthy relationships
- Problem solving and success over obstacles
