Therapeutic Family Living is a service offered through YBGR Community-based Services that is designed to increase effective functioning within the family unit.
Because we operate under the principle that it is best for children to remain in their own homes and communities whenever possible, our primary goal is to identify and implement methods of strengthening and sustaining familial relationships. Individualized treatment plans focusing on the unique strengths of each family are created in an effort to empower families to maximize the use of their own internal and external resources.
Our program is flexible, but commonly includes a treatment manager and a family support worker. It is the role of the treatment manager to visit the home on at least a weekly basis to offer parental coaching and training/education while the family support worker works individually with the youth to teach/model pro-social behaviors and effective coping skills.
Children's needs for belonging and a sense of history and identity are usually best met by their immediate family. It is for this reason that it is our goal to keep the family system intact and prevent unnecessary out-of-home placements.
