Letter from Superintendent

“Education is simply the soul of a society as it passes from one generation to another.”
~G.K. Chesterton

Dear Parents, Guardians, and Friends of Yellowstone,

It is with great pleasure, I acknowledge my arrival to Yellowstone Academy and show my appreciation for your support and kind words. The staff’s display of assistance, cooperation, and encouragement has blessed me tremendously.

August 1, 2011 was the start of a new chapter for all of us. I am excited about joining Yellowstone Boys and Girls Ranch and Yellowstone Academy and I look forward to providing educational leadership of the highest regard.

I can confirm that Yellowstone Academy provides unique educational opportunities to students with emotional and behavioral challenges. It also serves as a hub for caring adults, dedicated to providing quality teaching and learning opportunities for all students no matter their academic ability. The committed students and staff, and supportive Ranch employees have encouraged me and reinforced my decision to join YBGR.

After two months of working with staff and learning about the Academy, I have come up with five primary goals: 1) nurturing a positive school climate and culture that fosters a clean, safe, and healthy learning environment; 2) fostering positive and trusting relationships between adults and children; 3) increasing student achievement both academically and emotionally; 4) establishing public trust and confidence in the leadership transition through open and honest communication, and responsive action; and 5) increasing organizational effectiveness and efficiency. I encourage and invite all parents and student advocates to join in the quest to move Yellowstone Academy from “good” to “great.”

Yellowstone Boys and Girls Ranch is a system rich in tradition, and it is my desire to carry on the legacy. I look forward to working with you and for you to ensure we are providing the best educational and social/emotional opportunities for all students. It is encouraging to witness the dedication and hard work that has been displayed thus far. Everyone plays a role in making a difference in the lives of our students. Together, we can transform Yellowstone Academy into a world-class residential and day-school system. Our students deserve the best, therefore, we will move forward, future-focused and driven to heal lives.

My door is always open. Please feel free to visit, call, or email me at any time. If you visit our campus please help me to recognize your presence. My goal is to meet every stakeholder and listen to your concerns, words of appreciation, or suggestions for improvement.

It is my belief that together we will ensure our journey is a time for joy, celebration, and many continued successes. Our students deserve the best! I look forward to the road ahead.
