Do I have to get the application notarized?
Yes! This is a Child Protective Services background check. It is required by the Department Public Health and Human Services. We have filled out sections C and D for you, so you need to fill out sections A and B and have section E notarized.

Does it have to be notarized by a Montana notary?
No

Do I need to include reference letters and transcripts with my application?
No. However, it is best to have all reference letters and transcripts in by the time of the interview.

What is the interview process like?
Once we receive your application, we will begin the review process and contact you if you are selected for an interview. Due to the volume of applications received, it is not possible to contact every applicant that has not been selected to interview.

Interviews may consist of anywhere from one to six panelists. Some may require a follow up interview via phone or in person. You will be contacted either way, if you are selected for the position or not.

Do I need to have a degree?
It depends on the position. Take a look at our current openings. The description outlines the basic requirements.

What are the benefits?
Those positions that are full time, averaging between 30 and 40 hours per week, qualify for benefits. Click here for an outline of the benefit package.

Are all the positions located in Billings, MT?
No. Our residential campus is located in Billings. We also serve children and families in the Billings community through our Community Based Services (CBS). However, CBS also serves clients in Lewistown, Dillon, Livingston, Roundup, Lockwood, Shepherd and Laurel.

What kinds of schedules do you offer?
It varies. Most entry level positions consist of evening and weekend hours as those are the times that kids are out of school and need the most support. Administration, Primary Therapist, School Based positions, Treatment Manager and Case Manager positions offer more traditional day time hours.

What is the Dress Code?
The following are general guidelines for staff dress. The full Dress Code Policy will be shared during new hire orientation.
All Yellowstone Boys and Girls Ranch staff employees shall dress in a manner that reflects a professional image, inspires confidence, is appropriate to their roles and positions and provides comfort and safety in youth, staff and operations activities. Clothing will be professional (e.g. collared shirts), yet appropriate to the activity or occasion (dress casual, but look sharp). Staff are not to wear clothing that may create a disruption to the care of the youth or does not meet the minimum requirements the youth are expected to abide by. Tasteful jewelry that does not pose a danger to youth or staff will be allowed. While working or while representing YBGR, all visible pierced jewelry shall be limited to the ears and should not pose potential harm to staff or youth (i.e. no dangling earrings, no hoops, etc.)

Do you offer educational assistance?
A position at YBGR may entitle you to cancellation and/or deferment of your Perkins Student Loans. Employees are encouraged to contact their financial institution and/or university for additional information. YBGR has also established a scholarship fund to enable employees the opportunity to develop personally and professionally and to provide employees with a means to further their education and/or training while employed with the agency. The scholarship fund is available to all employees with three or more consecutive years of service at YBGR.

What kinds of training opportunities do you offer?
YBGR provides intensive in-service training programs. All employees are required to take First Aid/CPR and Safety/Infection control. Other training is program specific but may include Therapeutic Crisis Intervention, Dialectic Behavioral Therapy, Therapeutic Boundaries, Suicide Awareness, Decision Driving, Home Builders, Charting, Milieu Management, Special Treatment Procedures, Medication and Health and Wellness. Training is scheduled by the employee and his/her immediate supervisor and compensated as any other hours worked.

Does YBGR provide internship opportunities?
Yes. We can accommodate many bachelors and masters level internship requirements. Our most common internship is a bachelors level, residential counselor internship. Interns have the opportunity to live on campus (housing is available on a first come, first serve basis). We have many other internship programs including clinical and non-clinical practicums, school counseling internships, therapeutic family living internships and we can accommodate interns in many aspects of our organizational administration. We are not able to pay our interns, however, those interns that do live on campus receive housing and meals for free.
