What to Expect When You Call for the First Time
We understand that calling and explaining your situation may be scary. Keep in mind that helping you is our number one priority. Your initial call with one of our supportive staff will direct you to a person trained in gathering the information needed to assess the situation and do what they can to help. Some questions might include:
- What prompted you to call today?
- How long has this been going on?
- Is your child currently receiving any Mental Health services and/or has your child received services in the past?
- Was it helpful?
- What school does your child attend? Does your child have an Individualized Education Plan (IEP)?
Parents have expert knowledge of their child that will assist us in helping you think through your options for how to best help your child and family. If you are a candidate for our services, a thorough mental health assessment is scheduled to determine the level of services that best fits your current needs.
It is our belief at Community Based Services that families are partners in the intervention process, and that all families have the capacity to change, given adequate resources and support.
